One of the most trusted resources used in selecting a nursing home is the star rating system available on the Medicare website. Sadly, according to an investigative report published in The New York Times, this system may not be nearly as thorough as we've been led to believe.

According to The Times, the Medicare rating system relies on third-party input and reviews are not verified by government employees. This means that a nursing home can make up its own reviews, post them to the Medicare site, and improve their ranking – all without any type of oversight or verification. This is troubling news indeed for people who rely on these reviews to select a care facility.

Nursing home abuse and neglect are epidemics in the United States. Instances of mistreatment are so common, it can be difficult to find a home in which some issue has not occurred. When one of the most trusted sources of information on homes is found to be untrustworthy, families are often left with very few good choices.

The Phoenix nursing home attorneys at Cullan & Cullan understand how devastating it is to learn that a loved one has been mistreated in their care facility. We are here to take your case and fight for your family to help see safety restored and justice served.
