Gene Cullan, J.D., Ph.D. and Dr. Sam Cullan have both obtained an AV rating from Martindale-Hubble. This is an honor bestowed upon them by their peers and is the highest rating possible to obtain. It involves a rigorous review process and is only available to lawyers who have been in practice for at least ten years.

Peer Review Rating System

The Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Rating system reflects the opinion of members of the bar and judiciary who are familiar with the law firm's legal ability and ethical standards. A law firm with the highest level of legal ability and unquestionable ethics will receive an AV rating. This is the combination of the legal ability and ethical standards.

Legal ability considerations include professional ability of the area where the lawyer practices, the lawyer's expertise, as well as other professional considerations. Legal ability ratings are given as:

C – Good to High
B – High to Very High
A – Very High to Preeminent

The general ethical standards rating considers reliability, ethics, diligence, and other areas of professional responsibility. A rating of V stands for "Very High."

An AV certification is a significant accomplishment. It means the lawyer is ranked by his or her peers at the highest levels of professional and ethical excellence.
