July is Medical Malpractice Awareness Month: “End the Silence”

Cities and states around the country are joining the National Medical Malpractice Advocacy Association (NMMAA) in announcing the month of July as Medical Malpractice Awareness Month.

The focus of the month is the goal to “End the Silence” surrounding the issue of medical malpractice. Medical malpractice affects many patients and families, yet most people are unaware of the true impact of this issue. Individuals who are faced with the realities of medical malpractice are often unsure of how to respond to the situation.

A crucial component of ending the silence about medical malpractice is education — learning not only about the prevalence of medical malpractice, but how victims can recover from such a tragedy. The NMMAA Medical Malpractice Awareness Month campaign centers on the principles of hope, healing, and honor: Hope that the threat of medical malpractice will be eliminated in the future, and healing and honor for past victims.

This July, join the fight against medical malpractice and know your rights:

  • Inaccurate diagnoses, prescription errors, and surgery mishaps are all types of medical malpractice. Any instance of negligent medical care could entitle you to a claim.
  • When receiving medical care, you have a right to full and complete information about your ailment and treatment options.
  • You can speak up if you feel that your doctor is not addressing your concerns — speak to your family and friends, other medical staff, and our attorneys (we offer free consultations!).
  • Patients who are affected by medical malpractice, and their families, could receive compensation to cover related medical bills, lost wages, and other financial damages, as well as payments to account for pain and suffering.

Negligent doctors who subject their patients to the horrors of medical malpractice can be legally accountable for their carelessness. Schedule a free consultation with Cullan & Cullan to discuss your case.
